Engineering studies at GEI department

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science offers two distinct engineering courses :

  • Automatic-Electronic (AE)
  • Computer and Network (IR)

Become an engineer Automatic-Electronics

The AE specialty welcomes students from the pre-orientation of materials, components and systems engineering (IMACS) as well as external students at the M1 level (recruited on file). It takes place over 2 years (4th year AE, 5th year AE).

The aim of the automatic / electronic engineer training is to train general engineers able to design and implement complex technological systems integrating components of different technologies (electronic components, computer and telecommunications equipment, software, networks, mechanical devices).

Depending on the orientation chosen, the focus will be on:

  • the development of embedded systems taking into account the specific constraints of these systems: real time, operational safety, criticality, autonomy, energy consumption, environment (Embedded Systems Electronics Major - ESE)
  • the formalization, the follow-up and the traceability of the engineering of these systems whose complexity requires the simultaneous apprehension of the different types of components and the management of their complete life cycle

Become an engineer Computers & Networks

The Computer & Network (IR) specialty welcomes students from the pre-orientation modeling, computer and communication (MIC) as well as external students at the M1 level (recruited on file).

The objective of the IR specialty is to train general engineers capable of mastering the process of software development and the design of complex computer systems, communicating and distributed in networks, integrating security constraints, real time, or deployment on the cloud.
